Letter writes dream about federal politicians co-operating and call out separatist 51st billboards in Alberta and criticism of Wayne Gretzky.
I have a dream.
I have never been a politician — and I am determined to never be one — but I pray that my dream scenario could solve Canada’s problems by adopting a solution we grew up with in the 1930s and 40s.
It’s called “co-operation.” What follows is a suggestion on how it could work today.

In turn, she promises him the Finance minister portfolio in the Liberal minority government that results from the September election. The House of Commons is now stacked with young tech grads, who fill the vacant seats deserted by the old guard, who quit prior to the election.
Conservative leader Pierre Pollievre, continuing on as leader of the opposition, offers to support Freeland in a coalition that concentrates all the best brains in the country to solve Canada’s problems near and far.
Meanwhile, the rest of us live happily ever after in our dreams.

Cancelling Gretzky is un-Canadian
Cancel culture is un-Canadian.
Some people have called for the cancellation of Wayne Gretzky because of his political beliefs.
This goes against the principle of Canadian freedom, Canadian respect and Canadian dignity. If we start cancelling people for their political beliefs, it is a very short jump to cancelling people for their religious beliefs.
Do we want a Canada where people are cancelled for their political and religious beliefs?

Well, if we do, Canada has deteriorated to the injustice of mob rule. At that point, Canada will have sank to the standard of Iran or North Korea.
Remember the words of Voltaire if you want a free society: “I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it!”
When someone tries to “cancel” another Canadian for their beliefs, tell them in Letters To The Editor and to their face, that they are wrong, they are violating a citizen’s freedom, and that is un-Canadian.

Pro-51st state billboard unwanted
An American advocacy group was allowed to erect a billboard, visible from a major Alberta highway, promoting Canada as the 51st State.
This propaganda is as dangerous as hate speech, designed to erode our sovereignty from within.
This won’t be the last billboard we’ll see. They are testing our waters.
If we don’t take immediate action against this kind of messaging, we can expect to see billboards of this nature along all our Canadian highways as well as ads in the papers, on our televisions and on our radios.
